Bentley By Blake To Be Auctioned For Charity
When the Godfather of British pop art, Sir Peter Blake created a unique car for Bentley Motors, it was anyone’s guess what value they will bring. Two jargons of their respective genres combined force to bring together an impressive Bentley that essentially is a piece of art that is unique, eclectic and truly represents the great artist Sir Peter Blake is.
This artwork of a car was a commissioned work from Bentley to Sir Peter Blake, where he were to draw inspiration from his own illustrious artistic journey that was at the forefront of the discernible pop art movement in Britain, all in an effort to create and deliver the world’s first pop art Bentley.
This one of a kind outcome of the project, Bentley Continental GT V8 S Convertible is soon to be put out for auction in June. Bentley Motors have donated this gorgeous and acclaimed work to Care2Save Charitable Trust that offers palliative and hospice care all over the world.
This work of art that goes on auction on June 24th is a strikingly colorful car that captures the real essence of the golden era of pop art. It is also indicative of why Sir Peter Blake is regarded as one of the leading artists in Britain even today! Bentley Motors, in particular the skilled division that was involved in realizing this design concept from the art maestro have come out and spoke of the fascinating journey they took on and the sublime experience that it was to work with an artist of this stature. Bentley Motors have been supporting Care2Save Charitable Trust and hospice care for more than 25 years now and plans to continue this association. As Bentley Motors donates this work of art to the charity, the auction and the proceeds is intended to take this relationship between the two, to a crescendo and to never look back.
Sir Peter Blake, the designer of the iconic Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band album by The Beatles credited this experience and the final product as a source of pride as he transformed this beautiful car. He also expressed great admiration for the people at Bentley who realized his design to create this one-off car.
The big red heart hand painted on to the continental yellow bonnet is in line with the charity that offers care and love. The entire exterior of the car emphasizes the use of collage, a characteristic of his work – showcases bright yet clearly defined color. The fuchsia pink radiator shell is balanced out by the generously applied St. Luke’s Blue – a color introduced by Sir Peter to pay homage to the company’s local St. Luke’s Cheshire Hospice. A ‘Sir Peter Blake’ tread plate to signify his work, and a label ‘No. 1 of 1’ finishes the whole design with a big flourish.
This design is further specialized as includes a personalized playlist from the Sir Peter’s favorite music and is the second Bentley Continental GT, Bentley is donating to Care2Save Charitable Trust. Additionally The Bentley By Me campaign was launched in the earlier part of this year encouraged and allowed people to donate any amount beginning from something as humble as a euro towards the palliative and hospice care which also offered a prospect of winning a Bentley to the donors.
Care2Save Charitable Trust talks fondly of the support it has received from Bentley Motors since the trust was formed 28 years ago and appreciates it greatly. It also talks about the ever expanding need of funds to provide dignity and comfort as they extend palliative and hospice care all over UK and globally.
The money raised by Bentley By Me and Bentley By Blake campaigns will be put to use by The Care2Save Charitable Trust in working with organizations all over the world by guiding and empowering them to come up with their very own sustainable and affordable hospice and palliative care models.
